Google is testing out a password-less login system

Ever wanted to login to your e-mail/social media account without having to type your password. Well, according to this Reddit post, Google is currently testing out a new feature which allows users to log into their G-Mail accounts with just their smartphone.

This password-less login system works by allowing users to log into their Google Account with a registered smartphone. On a login attempt, a confirmation dialog will pop up on the registered smartphone, whereby pressing yes will instantly complete the login process on the computer. According to the Redditor, this system works via Google Cloud Messaging.

Passwords will still be available as a login option in the event that the registered smartphone malfunctions or goes missing. As the system is still in the early stages of testing, it’s yet to be seen if this system would also work with an iPhone or a Windows 10 powered smartphone. Regardless, this is an interesting new take on the login system.
