Google Chrome is getting several new updates, including one that lets you declutter your massive amount of tabs because you keep forgetting to close them.
Rolling out in the upcoming weeks, Google Chrome is getting a new grid layout on Android devices, while it’s already available on iOS devices. However, Android devices will also be able to group the tabs by dragging and dropping one tab on top of the other — this feature is currently not available on iOS devices. With this grouping function, users can just use the tab switcher at the bottom of their screens to switch between tabs in a group.
Google Chrome also got better for desktop users. When there’s too many tabs, the names of the webpages are usually gone, leaving on their icons in sight. Now, users can preview the names of these tabs by hovering their cursor over the tabs. According to Google, users will even get to see a thumbnail of the pages in the future. In addition, Chrome users can now send a tab opened in their phone to their laptop and vice versa — provided both devices are signed in with the same account and have sync enabled.
Google also improved its address bar for both desktop and Android by showing search results in the address bar itself. There will also be prompts for translation when necessary and Google Chrome has also included a new colour customisation tool so users can change their browser’s theme according to their preferred colour.
