Galaxy S8 sales 15% higher than Galaxy S7

2016 saw the Galaxy S7 being the sole flagship series launched by Samsung. The discontinuation of the fire prone Galaxy Note 7 resulted in Samsung having to hold onto marketing its older flagship for the rest of the year, which boosted the sales of the Galaxy S7 series. But according to Dongjin Koh, Samsung’s president of mobile communications business, the Galaxy S8 series currently boasts 15% higher sales than the Galaxy S7 series when compared under the same duration.

The above claim by Dongjin Koh at a Taipei press conference proves that the Galaxy S8 is definitely the more popular device when taking its predecessor into account. He also stated that the momentum of sales for Samsung’s current flagship will carry on to Q3 and Q4 this year.

The Galaxy S8 series sports a design which is now deemed as the going trend for smartphones – a bezel-less front with a 2:1 display aspect ratio (18:9.5 for the S8). With sales going this strong, Samsung will be having a ball prior to the launch of the Galaxy Note 8 which is slated to be unveiled late next month.

The upcoming phablet has been rumored to feature a similar design display on the front, along with a brand new dual rear camera setup, tipped to work just like the iPhone 7 Plus.

What do you think of Samsung’s performance with the Galaxy S8 series? Let’s hope Samsung does not screw up again like it did last year.
