Galaxy Note 7 screenshot shows iris scanner option

Samsung has recently trademarked the “Galaxy Iris” and “Galaxy Eyeprint” names, which will definitely be used for its iris scanning technology. The Korean manufacturer has recently launched the Galaxy Tab Iris in India, sporting entry level specs with iris scanning technology, targeted at government officials and corporate employees. This time, an alleged screenshot of the Galaxy Note 7 tells us that we might be seeing Galaxy Iris or Galaxy Eyeprint sooner than expected.

Rumors of Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet sporting iris scanners have been shot down and revived a couple of times. The screenshot shows a message screen in Korean which appears to have “Use iris” as one of the options instead of fingerprint scanning. If this were to be true, the Galaxy Note 7 will feature an additional secure option to unlock the phone other than via fingerprint.

With recent trademarking by Samsung, coupled with the fact that it has launched the Galaxy Tab Iris, and this screenshot, the Galaxy Note 7 with iris scanning technology doesn’t sound so far fetched like it used to be. What do you think about iris scanning technology?
