Galaxy A42 5G: Samsung adds 5G support to new midrange phone

Samsung quietly launched the Galaxy A42 5G yesterday in Malaysia; the new 5G phone is a midranger that uses the Snapdragon 750G chip.

Specs

The Galaxy A42 5G is available in Prism Dot Black and Prism Dot Gray, and has a 6.6-inch SUPER AMOLED screen with a dewdrop notch. It comes with a 20MP lens with f/2.2 aperture on the front, while its rear features a 48MP lens alongside an 8MP ultra wide lens, a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro lens.

Under the hood, the midranger has 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage. It also holds a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging and runs on One UI based on Android 10. Although 5G isn’t ready in Malaysia yet, the Galaxy A42 5G is a future-proof phone that will offer 5G connectivity with support for the 700MHz and 3500MHz band when the time comes.

Galaxy A42 5G currently unlisted on Shopee

The Galaxy A42 5G is available at RM1,599 on its official store on e-commerce platforms, but Shopee has recently unlisted it while Lazada has removed the product page – we’re not sure why, but it’s most likely that it’ll be made available again soon.
