An opportunistic senior manager that used to work for Foxconn has landed himself in hot water as it appears that said manager has allegedly stolen 5,700 iPhones while he was working at the company.
Asia One is reporting that the Taiwanese manager responsible for the theft, named Tsai, had instructed eight employees at Foxconn’s factory in Shenzen to smuggle out thousands of iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. Him and his accomplices would then sell said phones, netting them nearly TWD50 million (roughly RM6.9 million) in the process.
Foxconn would eventually discover the theft after conducting an internal audit and the case was reported to the Taiwanese authorities soon after. Tsai was arrested and questioned earlier this year, but was bailed soon after. Now, Tsai will be trialled at court with the charges being breach of trust. Should he be found guilty, he would face a potential 10-year jail sentence.
