The new Fitbit Versa 2 has an AMOLED display and Alexa built-in but no GPS and ECG

Aside from Fitbit Premium, Fitbit also announced the new Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch and a smart scale called the Fitbit Aria Air that can measure weight and BMI, but let’s focus on the smartwatch.

The Versa 2 has significant upgrades over its predecessor, but at the same time still lack some features many had hoped for. Its display is now a bigger AMOLED screen with thinner bezels, remind us of the Apple Watch. The side button is located on its left while the microphone is located on its right.

Why is there a microphone, you ask? Because the Fitbit Versa 2 has Amazon Alexa built-in, so now you can hold the side button and get Alexa to set reminders and alarms for you. The Versa 2 also supports Always-On mode and Sleep mode which disables quick-view display and notification.

Spotify Premium will also be coming to the Fitbit Versa 2 — and other Versa smartwatches — but it will only be a remote Spotify Connect app, so you’ll still need your phone. Unfortunately, there is no GPS and ECG feature yet, so Apple is still conquering in that area.

Nonetheless, the Versa 2 has 24/7 heart rate tracking, battery life up to 5 days and supports app notifications and voice reply. The Fitbit Versa 2 is priced at RM998 while its special edition is priced at RM1,068. These devices will be available in Malaysia from September 15 onwards.
