The Windows 10 verson of Facebook’s Messenger app has received a stealth update, and with it comes voice and video calling.
Voice and video calling functionality on Windows 10 is identical to the one that can be found on the iOS and Android version of Messenger. The phone icon located at the top right corner of the screen will glow green when the person is currently active. When pressed, the app will inform you that the call will use either your Wi-Fi connection or your data to connect to the other person.
While the entire call experience is identical to iOS and Android, the Windows 10 app does have some limitations. For example, the Messenger desktop app does not have the options to set a reminder or send a message to the other person when a call is coming in. That being said, the Windows 10 app comes with native desktop notification when you have an incoming call, and you’ll be able to leave a voice mail if the other person doesn’t answer your calls.
Do note that all the updates mentioned above is limited to Windows 10 only. The Windows Phone version of Messenger does not have any of these functionalities yet.
