Facebook has finally addressed the need for Android users to upload their videos in HD format since the days of 360 resolution videos are way over. The company has finally added the option to toggle video uploads in HD, which took quite some time, up to two years ago in fact since Facebook on iOS had the feature. Mind you, two years is a pretty long time especially when it comes to technology development.
Facebook seems to have silently pushed out this feature for the Android platform, without any official announcement, probably not wanting the world to know how long they took to get HD video uploads on Android. Android Police reports of some users encountering this new feature as early as a month ago, though most Android users, if not all, have been receiving the feature over the past couple of days.
Another handy feature is said to be coming to the Facebook app in the near future – picture-in-picture video, enabling users to watch Facebook videos while they are browsing their News Feed or even when they leave the app itself. This will require the “draw over other apps” permission in Android, similar to how Facebook’s Messenger app works. Also, Facebook is said to soon rollout a feature to allow users to download videos for offline viewing later. As for now, we’re definitely delighted, if not relieved that Android users can finally upload their videos to Facebook in HD. What do you think?
