Facebook adds mentions and reactions to Messenger

Facebook has the tendency to make every new feature it has made on every app it owns these days, and the latest addition to its now standalone Messenger app would be mentions and reactions. This is probably a more practical add on than the recent Stories feature, it benefits group chats and allows users to mention each other’s name in the conversation, while being able to react to a reply just like you do on your Facebook status.

Ever since Facebook separated the Messenger app from the social media app, the company has always wanted users to use the messenger app as a one stop messaging center, as it also allows you to read and send SMS messages with it. The new mentions feature should work pretty straightforward by typing a @ in the chat group and selecting a person’s name from the list, and the mentioned person should receive a special notification that they have been called out, while reacting to a reply should be as simple as holding on it and select an emoticon that pops up above it.

Mentions and reactions on Facebook Messenger should reach users very soon, so check your phone for updates if you are excited about it.
