The hype and speculation regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 series of smartphones won’t ever extinquish till they launch. With an MWC 2017 launch date out of question, the device is probably headed for an April unveiling, though it has been rumored that it will be teased at MWC. Today, the South Korean manufacturer has released a teaser image onto social media, not of the smartphone but of its own new Exynos processors.
Seen in the teaser image is a text stating, “Discover cloud 9 with Exynos”, with a particular highlight on the figure “9”, suggesting a launch of the Exynos 9 series in the near future. It is likely that the Galaxy S8 will be powered by this particular chipset that has yet to be announced by Samsung. So far, Samsung’s Exynos powered flagships are only made for selected regions globally, hence it will probably work the same with the S8.
Samsung is manufacturing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor as well, calling dibs on the chipset before any other manufacturer get their hands on it. Based on Samsung’s pattern over the last couple of years, it is highly likely that we will be looking at Snapdragon and Exynos variants of the Galaxy S8 series. Both processors will probably produce the same amount of performance as well. Would you prefer an Exynos or a Snapdragon Galaxy S8?
