Industrial espionage is a very well thing. Just ask Huawei as the company claims that six of its ex-employees have leaked company secrets to Coolpad, a subsidiary of LeEco.
According to a report by Securities Times, it appears that the former engineers and designers of Huawei have been arrested and are under investigation by the Shenzhen public securites department over a patent application that was made before the individuals involved joined Coolpad’s smartphone department. Among the ex-employees detained include Wu Bin, the chief architect of the Huawei P6 who is currently being charged with causing his former company “huge losses”.
Not surprisingly, LeEco has claimed that the accusations of its involvement were “pure rumour” on the company’s official Weibo account. Coolpad has also claimed that those involved have denied taking any documents or code from Huawei. Only time will tell if these six ex-Huawei employees will be found guilty or innocent.
