Mercedes-Benz has launched a new car sharing platform in Munich, Germany called Croove, claiming to transform the way people look at cars. Croove will make it possible for its users to rent cars from others to be driven.

Mercedes has assured that Croove will allow non-Mercedes drivers to try out the company’s latest car models. Croove isn’t the first ever car sharing service, with Turo in the US and Snappcar in the Netherlands providing similar services in their respective locations. Croove apparently suits the CASE (Connectivity, Autonomous Driving, Sharing and Electric Drive Systems) of Mercedes. The company has claimed Croove to be less expensive and more flexible compared to the current conventional car rental services. Nissan has also introduced a car sharing service recently, but in a different way since it only enables split ownerships for cars, and not temporary use of the vehicles.

Croove will be available exclusively in Munich, Germany for the foreseeable future, with Mercedes possibly looking at it as a testing ground before attempting to venture further. The Croove app is now only available for iOS devices, Mercedes has promised an Android rollout soon. What do you think?
