We’ve seen Synology’s first ever network router last year, the RT1900AC has great hardware and a very polished user experience just like its DiskStation NAS, which makes it one of the most memorable networking products I have ever come cross. This year, the company introduced the RT2600ac wireless router, while it isn’t the successor to last year’s model, this bad boy comes with extremely high performance hardware under the hood, such as a 1.7GHz dual-core CPU, up to 2600Mbps speed and 4×4 MU-MIMO support.

The RT2600ac will also come shipped with Synology Router Manager (SRM) 1.1, which brings more advanced network management features such as automatically connecting devices to the best wireless band for best WiFi connection, the Smart WAN feature provides capability of automatic network failover or load balancing to ensure a consistent network connectivity. Last but not the least, SRM 1.1 also introduces the intrusion detction system and intrusion prevention system services that will help protect the network from hacks, Synology will be introducing Cloud Station to the operating system really soon and users will be able to create their own private cloud just like its Diskstation products.

In terms of ports, the RT2600ac has four Gigabit LAN ports, one Gigabit WAN port, two USB 3.0 ports for connecting external storage and printers, and probably the most unexpected feature would be a SDHC-UHS-I/SDXC UHS-I card reader onboard that will allow users to view and transfer photos on your SD card, this is definitely one of the most interesting network router that we have seen from Synology this year, however the company hasn’t revealed on when it is bringing its network routers into Malaysia, so lets hope that they will bring them in this year.
