CES 2021: ASUS ROG launches Flow X13, Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, and Strix SCAR 17

ASUS ROG has today announced three new gaming laptops during the CES 2021 event – these include the brand-new ROG Flow X13, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, and a refresh of the ROG Strix SCAR 17.

ROG Flow X13

As its name may suggest, this laptop is all about being nimble and ultraportable. It comes in a compact 13-inch frame while packing a 120Hz display for gaming, or a 4K panel for creative work. The displays support a 16:10 aspect ratio, Adaptive Sync for gaming, and is Pantone Validated for better colour accuracy.

Under the hood is up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU which should let you handle any e-sports title effortlessly. It’s not slouch either when it comes to low-to-mid level creation work.

Should you need more power however, you can also pair the Flow X13 with the XG e-GPU which packs a GeForce RTX 3080 card.

In terms of battery life, the Flow X13 gets you up to 10 hours of gaming on a full charge, according to ASUS.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

The ROG Zephyrus line-up sits on the brand’s top-tier range of gaming devices and the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE some of the best premium performance money can buy.

In terms of hardware, the laptop packs up to a whopping RTX 3080 GPU along with a Ryzen 5900HX CPU. The laptop also comes with a 300Hz FHD panel that supports 100% sRGB colour space. You can also opt for a 4K 120Hz panel too that has 100% Adobe RGB colour space.

What sets apart the Zephyrus Duo line of laptops apart from its competitors is its ScreenPad Plus secondary display that offers a better multitasking experience both for productivity tasks as well as gaming.

ROG Strix SCAR 17

If you want something larger, the Strix SCAR 17 comes with 17-inch FHD panel that pushes a 360Hz refresh rate. You can also go for a 1440p display that has a 165Hz refresh rate. The displays support adaptive sync and has DCI-P3 colour output as well.

The laptop packs four speakers and support for Dolby Atmos so external speakers may not be necessary for gaming and media consumption.

The Strix SCAR 17 comes with a 90Wh batter and it offers up to 12 hours of video playback. More interestingly, the laptop comes with an optical mechanical keyboard which features per-key RGB lighting.  When it comes to specs, you get up to, again, the RTX 3080 + Ryzen 5900HX combo.

ASUS hasn’t announced when these devices will arrive in Malaysia and how much they’ll cost, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated when we get more information. You can also visit ASUS’s website here to learn more.
