CES 2019: HP races to the top with the first AMD powered Chromebook

All these while, Chromebooks have always been powered by either Intel or ARM based (ie. Mediatek and Qualcomm) processors, this is going to be a different year for Chromebooks as HP has just unveiled the very first AMD powered Chromebook in CES 2019.

The HP Chromebook 14 is powered by an AMD A4 processor, it has 4GB RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage, which is considerably underwhelming if you compare to Windows laptops, as Chrome OS generally doesn’t require high end hardware to run, so it should be sufficient for the average user.

9to5Google reports that the Chromebook 14 will come in two display resolutions – either 1366×768 or 1920×1080, a standard USB port and USB-C port is present on each side of the device, the good news is that it supports USB-C charging and you get up to 9-hours of battery life on a single charge.

The HP Chromebook 14 will ship later this month from a starting price of US$269 (RM1108), it will be available in color options of Snow White, Charcoal Gray and Ink Blue.
