WD is at CES and they have shown off some really unique and power storage solutions for consumers. The products that stand out are a wireless SSD, a compact rugged SSD and a high-capacity USB drive.
The WD My Passport Wireless SSD is just like their previous wireless storage drive but they have now included an SD card slot. The device has read speeds of up to 65MB/s and has a one-touch button for easy file transfers from a camera. The contents of the drive can be easily accessible using the built-in wireless 802.11ac WiFi connection. You can edit and save photos and videos directly to the drive through the wireless connection. The drive comes with a 10-hour battery life when used continuously and can even charge other devices connected to it, thanks to its 6,700mAh battery inside.
Next, is the SanDisk Extream Portable SSD which has read speeds up to 550MB/s and comes with storage size ranging from 250GB to 2TB. It also has an IP55 rating which makes it light, rain, dust and splash proof.
Lastly is the SanDisk Ultra Fit which WD claims is the smallest 256GB USB drive and has read speeds up to 130MB/s.
The WD My Passport Wireless SSD comes with a price tag of $230 for the 250GB model and $800 for the 2TB model. The SanDisk Extream Portable SSD is priced at $100 for the 250GB model and $700 for the 2TB model. Finally, the SanDisk Ultra Fit is priced at $22 for the 16GB model and can go up to $150 for the 256GB model.
