Back in Baselworld 2016, Casio debuted a series of watches under the concept of ‘Global Time Sync’. Today, said watches made their debut in Malaysia as Casio is holding the Global Time Sync Showcase at The Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur.
So what makes the ‘Global Time Sync’ watches different from other Casio watches? Casio’s ‘Global Time Sync’ watches are watches that feature the Global Time Sync technology. This technology allows the watch to keep accurate time anywhere in the world without requiring any input from the wearer itself. In the case of the G-SHOCK and OCEANUS line of watches, this technology works via a GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor built into the watch itself. This allows the watches to receive GPS and radio wave time-calibration signals that would allow it to adjust itself.
This particular instance of the Global Time Sync technology can be found in the company’s G-SHOCK flagship, the MRG-G1000DC. Being the latest timepiece under the MR-G series, the MRG-G1000DC features “Akagane” (copper colour) accents with ion plating, giving the watch a traditional Japanese metalwork that is highly prized in Japan over the centuries. Besides the flagship MRG though, the Global Time Sync technology can also be found on the Mudmaster, Gulfmaster and Gravitymaster variants of G-SHOCK watches. As for the OCEANUS series, the OCW-G1100 is the flagship of the line, sporting sapphire glass, dual curve sapphire crystals, and a Sallaz polishing to ensure that the watch is tough yet elegant.
GPS and radio waves aren’t the only method that Casio has implemented for its ‘Global Time Sync’ watches as the EDIFICE and SHEEN line of watches rely on a Smartphone Bluetooth link. This link allows both the EDIFICE and SHEEN line to access different times for over 300 cities across 40 time zones. For the EDIFICE watches, the watch itself is able to keep track of the time in two seperate countries, making it the go-to watch for those who work with others that live in a different country. For the SHEEN line, these watches combines both technology and design to create a feminine watch, perfect for the women of the new generation.
If you would like to see these watches in person, the Casio Global Time Sync Showcase will be located at the Concourse area of The Pavilion from today until the 15th of May.
