Ever heard about carrying your computer around in your pocket? Well, Intel’s new Compute Card can actually allow you to do that and comes equipped with an ultra-efficient Celeron or notebook-class Core i5. It looks like a stylish power bank that can fit your pocket and is getting the attention of Intel OEM partners hoping to use it from smart signage to modular notebooks.
The card was originally revealed at CES earlier this year and will come with a range of configurations that includes up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage, built-in AC 8265 wireless network and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. Intel has also announced the availability of the Compute Card Device Kit which will allow OEMs to create devices that are compatible with the modular computing core.
Some of the partners are already working on accessory solutions for the card but for now, Intel has just shown a reference design that has USB ports, mini DisplayPort, HDMI, and Ethernet ports and will become a full functioning computer when the Compute Card is inserted into it.
