As we speak, we’re now closing in on the last five days till OnePlus officially unveils the OnePlus 5. The company kicked off its smartphone lineup with the OnePlus One, which sported the famous signature Sandstone Black rear panel. OnePlus retained that same material with the OnePlus 2, before revamping the general design language when it announced the OnePlus 3. The company will indeed retain the same metal unibody build with the OnePlus 5, but fans and critics alike have claimed that the upcoming flagship looks very much similar to Apple’s iPhone. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has finally spoken.
According to a recent tweet by Carl Pei on Twitter, the OnePlus 3 which was launched last year had similar reactions and responses prior to its release, but those have died down after the device went official. He claimed that the same will happen for the OnePlus 5 – “History will repeat itself once people see a real live OnePlus 5.”
The OnePlus 3 too had a fair amount of not so nice reactions from the general public before it was launched. Not only it was accused of copying the iPhone by Apple, it was also reported to have its design partially inspired by handsets of Taiwanese manufacturer HTC.
Regardless, we can only wait to see what will happen when the OnePlus 5 goes official. Till then, keep your eyes peeled for that June 20th date.
