Blizzard will drop Windows XP and Vista support within the year

Fans of Blizzard games who are still on Windows XP or Windows Vista may want to update their operating systems soon. Why? Because Blizzard has finally made the decision to stop supporting its games on these date OSes within the year.

While a proper cut of date has yet to be announced, Blizzard confirms that support for XP and Vista for all of its games, ranging from World of Warcraft to Hearthstone, will end by the end of 2017. One thing to note though is that support for the games will be pulled on a staggered pace, so Blizzard won’t be flipping a switch that will lead to all games being unsupported in one fell swoop. That being said, once the game is unsupported, those who are still running on XP or Vista won’t be able to launch any of the company’s games until they’ve updated their OS.

It was only a matter of time until Blizzard decided to drop support for both operating systems, considering the fact that Microsoft themselves stopped supporting XP and Vista in 2009 and 2012 respectively.  Gamers who are still on either operating systems should probably look into upgrade to a newer Windows OS soon.
