TCL’s first proper Blackberry-branded phone, the ‘Mercury’, made an unannounced appearance at CES 2017. If the presence of a new BlackBerry phone that comes with a proper QWERTY keyboard interests you, then you should know that TCL is looking to officially unveil the ‘Mercury’ on the 25th of February.

The reveal of the Mercury will be made in Barcelona, just a day before the Mobile World Congress event kicks off. Neither BlackBerry nor TCL have revealed anything about the Mercury thus far, but rumours indicate that the phone itself will come with a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, an 18MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. What we do know is that the Mercury’s keyboard can double as a touchpad and the spacebar button has an embedded fingerprint sensor built into it.

Considering the fact that previous BlackBerry phones from TCL were merely Alcatel rebrands, the Mercury will be the company’s first BlackBerry phone that was built from the ground up. Here’s to hoping that it doesn’t disappoint.
