BBM update for iOS and Android makes premium features available for free

Two features from BlackBerry’s BBM app for iOS and Android will be made available to everyone as a recent update has made Retract and Timer free to users.

Previously, both Retract and Timer can only be accessed by those who subscribed to BBM’s premium features. Today, an update released for BBM has removed the paywell for both features. The first of the two features is Retract, a tool that lets its users delete individual messages on both the user’s own device as well as the recepient’s. The other feature is Timer, which is a Snapchat-style tool for ephemeral messaging. This feature allows users to set the duration of time their text and photos would be visible to the participants of a chat.

Apart from the premium features, some minor improvements have been made to BBM in general. Some of these improvements include the ability to forward messages from one chat to another, improved BBM Voice Call quality on Android and iOS, as well as giving BBM Android 6.0 support.
