BB Merah Putih announces the BlackBerry Aurora

The BlackBerry name appears to be far from dead as the Indonesia-based BB Merah Putih has announced that it has a BlackBerry smartphone of its own: the BlackBerry Aurora.

Stated by BB Merah Putih’s Vice President Stanly Widjaja as “the first BlackBerry device in the world to be equipped with dual-SIM functionality,” the BlackBerry Aurora is equipped with a Snapdragon 425 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 3,000mAh battery. The phone features a 5.5″ 720p touchscreen and operates on Android Nougat.

For imaging, the BlackBerry Aurora carries a 13MP rear camera with phase detection auto focus (PDAF) and dual-tone LED flash. As for the front camera, the Aurora comes with an 8MP snapper with LED flash.

The Blackberry Aurora is expected to launch in Indonesia with a price tag of IDR3,499,000 (RM1,166). No word was given as to whether or not the phone will be made available outside of Indonesia, so you should probably tamper your expectations for it.
