Everybody has been waiting for ASUS to bring in its most ridiculous laptop ever. That wait is over, as ASUS has officially launched the Republic of Gamers’ GX700 laptop in Malaysia.
Touted as the world’s first liquid-cooled gaming laptop, the GX700 is aimed squarely at the enthusiast market. This mean machine comes with an 6th-gen Intel mobile K-SKU (Skylake) processor and a desktop-class NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, allowing the laptop to perform as well as a desktop machine. The GX700 also sports a screen that comes with NVIDIA G-Sync display technology for the smoothest, fastest and stunning gaming visuals possible.
Of course, the main selling point of the GX700 is its water cooling system. The laptop comes with a detachable ROG-exclusive Hydro Overclocking System cooling module which uses a pump to circulate coolant around heat-generating components inside the GX700. This liquid coolant would then head back into the cooling module where two radiators help to dissipate heat. This liquid-cooling system gives the GX700 some serious overclocking processor as you can potential overclock the CPU performance by up to 47%. The DDR4 RAM can also be boosted up to 2800MHz from 2133MHz, which is an 43% increase in power.
If the GX700 sounds like your kind of laptop, be prepared to shell out top dollar as the GX700 sports an ear-watering price tag of RM18,999.
Aside from the GX700, ASUS has also taken the opportunity to reveal the GT51 desktop. Winner of the 2016 CES Innovation and iF Design Award, the GT51 is powered by a 6th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Gear for one-click full-cre CPU overclocking to 4.6GHz without having to reboot. The GT51 is also capable of supporting two Titan X-es in SLI mode for Ultra HD gaming. Rounding up the GT51 are two 512GB NVMe PCIe RAID 0 SSDs and DDR4 2133MHz RAM.
For the cooling system of the GT51, this desktop features a multi-zone thermal solution that lower the system’s internal temperatures by up to 31%. The machine also features a liquid-cooled Hydro Overclocking System for the CPU as well as dedicated air channels to draw cool air into the chassis for the graphics card. The PSU for the GT51 also features its own isolated airflow design to further improve the machine’s cooling.
Pricing for the GT51 has not been revealed yet, but ASUS has mentioned that the desktop will be available in June.
