ASUS is set to unveil it’s new entry-level ZenFone Live (L1) here in Malaysia, as local retailer DirectD has mentioned that the phone will retail for less than RM400, this is an entry-level device set to rival with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A, and not surprising, it sports a very identical specs sheet too – Snapdragon 425, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, 13MP main and 5MP front cameras, and a 3000mAh battery.
However, what the ZenFone Live L1 is advantageous over its rival would be it’s display, it is significantly larger at 5.5″ with an 18:9 aspect ratio, it will also come with ASUS’ ZenUI 5 based on Android Oreo and supports Face Unlock. In addition, the phone’s front camera will also come with a softlight LED flash that gives additional light when shooting in low light.
This isn’t the first device that ASUS is attempting to challenge Xiaomi, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has proven to be quite a serious contender to the Redmi Note 5 when it comes to its features and value. Based on the current market, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A retails at RM329 and even if ASUS managed to price the ZenFone Live L1 slightly higher, it is still a pretty good value judging on the display size alone.
