When ASUS first introduced the ZenFone AR to us, it was a whopping 5 months ago during CES 2017 in January this year. 5 months is pretty much equivalent to ages when it comes to the ever growing and fast paced smartphone industry. We haven’t heard from ASUS about the phone since, till Google hinted that the ZenFone AR will finally go on sale in mid June, and that news is spot on.

According to My Drivers, the world’s first ever 8GB RAM smartphone has finally gone on sale on home soil in Taiwan. When the ASUS ZenFone AR made its first appearance at CES 2017, the Chinese manufacturer was full of praises about it, boasting the fact that it is the first ever Google Daydream and Tango enabled smartphone that was made. The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro was the first Tango compatible phone, but it did not have Daydream compatibility, and moreover turned out to be a flop.

The ASUS ZenFone AR on the other hand hasn’t been skimped upon when you look at its specs – a QHD display, Snapdragon 821 processor and up to 8GB of onboard RAM. The futuristic phone also features a 23MP rear camera, along with depth and motion tracking sensors for its Daydream and Tango functionalities.

The price tag of the ZenFone AR has been set at a premium level. The phone will set you back 24,990 TWD, which is equivalent to RM 3,527.80. It will be exclusive to the Taiwanese market for the time being.
