ASUS Malaysia launches Zenfone Zoom, a phone with DSLR capabilities

ASUS kicked off the year with the spotlight on the ASUS Zenfone Zoom in their Zensation Launch today.

Boasting a new leatherback texture and a strap for safety, the Zenfone Zoom’s main speciality is its 13-megapixel camera’s 3x optical zoom with Hoya lens, making it the first smartphone in a while to feature optical zoom since Samsung’s Galaxy Zoom variants. The Zenfone Zoom. The camera, which also features a 10-element lens,laser auto-focus and OIS is said to provide a pocket-sized DSLR experience for users.

Under the hood, the Zenfone Zoom is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom processor, running on 4GB of RAM. The phone also has Micro SD expansion on top of its massive 128GB internal storage.

On the front, the Zenfone Zoom sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

ASUS Malaysia claims that the Zenfone Zoom will be available for sale at the end of January 2016, priced at RM 2,099.

Also featured at the launch event is the Intel Core i7 powered Zenbook Pro UX501 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M graphics, alongside a lightning speed 512GB PCI Express x4 SSD

The Zen AiO Pro series were showcased as well, an array of all-in-one, all-aluminium PC’s sporting up to Intel’s Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics. 

Another highlight is the Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition, which focuses on style with its race-car inspired aesthetics, coupled with swappable back cover options in Drift Silver and Carbon Night. Powered by a 3000mAh battery, the Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition also comes with the thrilling Asphalt 8: Airborne pre-installed.

Not forgetting, the Zenwatch 2, the latest wearable device by ASUS. Also running Android Wear by Google like its predecessor, the wearable device is available in two sizes and three stainless steel case colors, with 18 different strap material and colour combinations.

Prices for the Zenbook Pro UX501, Zen AiO Pro, Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition and the Zenwatch 2 will only be released later this month. We will keep you updated!
