ASUS ROG has announced the new ROG Strix SCAR 17 gaming laptop that’s best suited for heavy-users and even enthusiasts.

The laptop comes equipped with a 17.3-inch display panel that has a whopping 300Hz refresh rate. To allow games to run at that high of an FPS, the Strix SCAR 17 packs up to an Intel Core i9-10980HK CPU and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super GPU – no holds barred there when it comes to hardware.

You also get up to 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz SO-DIMM RAM, and up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD for storage. You fit up to three SSDs in the laptop, so you can buy it with just one and add to it later on.

You get an aluminium chassis that weighs 2.8KGs and comes with an RGB backlit desktop-layout keyboard which is customizable via ASUS’ Aura Core software.

With so much power, it needs proper cooling – for that, ASUS has packed the laptop with four heatsinks, giving you a total of 284 fins; the Strix SCAR 17 is 1.4mm taller than its siblings to accommodate for the more robust cooling module. On top of that, ASUS has applied liquid metal compound onto the CPU for added heat dissipation.

Moving on, the laptop doesn’t slouch when it comes to I/O ports either – you get three USB 3.2 Type A ports, one USB 3.2 Type C port, one Ethernet port, one HDMI (HDMI 2.0b) port and one headphone jack.

The laptop supports WiFi 6 with ROG RangeBoost for improved signal strength. Powering the laptop is a 66Wh battery – you’ll be docking this laptop at home anyways, so the battery size doesn’t matter too much.

The availability and pricing has not been disclosed yet, but we’ll keep you posted when more information comes.
