As Apple pulls away from its peers in the ear buds race, Microsoft latest attempts to catch up with its rival has hit a snag.

According to The Star, the upcoming Surface Earbuds have been delayed after missing its initial 2019 shopping season launch date. The supposed AirPods Pro rival will now be unveiled in spring of 2020.

The earphones were announced earlier this year boasting features like using your voice assistant to control PowerPoint slides and more of the sort. In terms of form factor, the Surface Earbuds take on a more unconventional shape with a circular, flat stem as opposed to the thin, elongated form we’re more used to.

The Microsoft Surface Earbuds are priced at $249 (RM1,038) which costs the same as Apple’s AirPods Pro; but with the latter selling like hotcakes, one has to assume the delay could be a measure to make improvements on the Surface Earbuds.
