While Android smartphones are sold with dual SIM capabilities in Asia, the iPhone has been sold as a single SIM device for a decade, but things are about to change as a China Mobile promo image spotted by The Verge has suggested that the new iPhones could come with dual SIM capabilities. For many years, iPhone customers have depended on hacks such as dual SIM cases and devices to enable dual SIM standby, and this is a welcome feature for the Asian market.
Though it might seem that Apple could just target the Chinese market for its dual SIM iPhones in an attempt to compete with Chinese Android smartphones, we believe that they will also make way over here due to market demand, as almost every smartphone you buy in Malaysia already supports dual SIM, so there’s really no reason not to get it sold here.
As of now, we are still unsure if Apple would be making the feature available on all variants of the new iPhones, as it has been rumored that the company would be releasing a larger 6.4-inch iPhone Xs Max, a 5.8-inch iPhone Xs, and a cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone. We’ll know it all in less than two days, so stay tuned to this space.
