Apple's latest tablet is merely called iPad

If you have been mad at Apple for calling a new product by its name (remember the MacBook?), then you are most probably not going to like the company calling its new tablet merely iPad, without any Pro or Plus moniker. The iPad has officially replaced the iPad Air 2 and old iPad Air as an entry-level product, its display size is still at 9.7-inches and thankfully still has that Retina display, though without a laminated one this round, it is still no slouch as Apple has fitted the speedy A9 processor that is found on the iPhone 6s. The iPad is available in colors of Space Grey, Gold and Silver, no Jet Black and Rose Gold.

In terms of storage options, the iPad is being offered in both 32GB and 128GB models, which is decent enough for the entry-level segment, it still weighs fairly light at 469g with 7.5mm of depth. Cameras remain the same as the iPad Air 2 with an 8-megapixel main and 1.2-megapixel front camera. On the other hand, Apple has also removed the iPad mini 2 from its store and now offers the iPad mini 4 only with a 128GB storage model, which is actually a good thing as you won’t need to be confused with the plethora of iPad models if you were to purchase an iPad.

How affordable is the iPad? It starts from RM1,549 for the 32GB WiFi only model, and up to RM2,649 for the 128GB WiFi+Cellular model, which is definitely a lot cheaper to own than the iPad Pro if you can do without faster processing speed and accessories such as the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. On the other hand, the iPad mini 4 128GB will retail at RM2,099 for the WiFi model and RM2,599 for the WiFi+Cellular model, and you can already purchase it right now over at the Apple Online Store. Meanwhile, keep a look out for clearance models if you still want to get the iPad Air 2 or other storage options for the iPad mini 4.
