Apple updates AirPods family with new AirPods 4 and new features on existing models

Apple has announced a long awaited update to its AirPods lineup, including the release of AirPods 4 and a revolutionary hearing health experience with AirPods Pro 2. The latest models offer cutting-edge audio technology, new design features, and the world’s first all-in-one hearing health system integrated into a consumer headphone.

The new AirPods 4 feature an advanced open-ear design, offering users two models: one with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and one without. These models provide up to 24 hours of battery life with their charging case, while introducing enhanced sound quality thanks to a new acoustic architecture, a low-distortion driver, and high dynamic range amplifier.

Powered by the H2 chip, AirPods 4 delivers personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, voice isolation for clearer call quality, and new control features such as a force sensor on the stem to pause music or end calls. The charging case has been redesigned for greater convenience, featuring USB-C compatibility and wireless charging, while also being the smallest in the industry.

For the first time, ANC comes to the AirPods 4 open-ear design, reducing environmental noise for a more immersive listening experience. Transparency mode and Adaptive Audio further enhance listening by blending noise cancellation and environmental awareness dynamically.

AirPods Pro 2 helps users prevent hearing damage through its active Hearing Protection, reducing exposure to loud noises in various environments like subways or concerts. AirPods Pro 2 also introduces a first-of-its-kind Hearing Aid feature, offering real-time, personalized adjustments for users with mild to moderate hearing loss.
