Over the past couple of years, Apple has been experimenting on its fan base and the consumer market as a whole, launching its devices in new different sizes. For instance, the iPhone saw a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model, the Macbook returned with a 12-inch screen and the iPad had a new Pro variant with a 12.9-inch display, all of which seem to be performing decently well when it comes to consumer appeal. Digi Times has reported that Apple will be launching a different sized iPad which sits between the 9.7-inch and the 12.9-inch iPad’s.
According to the report, the new iPad model will measure at 10.5 inches, and is slated to launch within the first quarter of 2017. The 10.5-inch iPad is said to sport Apple’s A10X chip underneath the hood, which is the same one found in the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Digi Times has claimed the reason behind this newly sized iPad is to cater to consumers in the education and enterprise line, whom is said to have found the 12.9-inch iPad’s too pricey to obtain and the 9.7-inch model too small. A 10.5-inch iPad will be 0.8-inch larger than the 9.7-inch model in terms of screen size, the same difference between the 8.9-inch iPad Mini and the 9.7-inch iPad.
The same report has also claimed that Apple will also be launching cheaper models of the iPad in order to compete with Android tablets. Apple still remains at the top in terms of the market share of tablet sales, though Android tablets mostly account for the rest of the market share. As of Q3 2016, Apple’s tablet market share stands at 21.5 percent, a decline from Q2’s 25.8 percent. Do you think Apple will be launching an iPad of another size?
