Planning to get a MacBook Pro sometime soon? Well, you might want to hold the purchase off a little longer as reports are coming in that Apple will be debuting an overhauled MacBook Pro sometime soon.

According to Bloomberg, the upcoming MacBook Pro will be thinner and lighter, but not wedge-shaped like the MacBook Air or 12-inch retina MacBook. The bezels around the display, as well as the overall frame of the device is stated to be smaller than the current MacBook Pro. Where the MacBook Air has courted controversy thanks to its lack of ports, the MacBook Pro will not have that particular issue. The MacBook Pro will indeed come with multiple ports, although the type of ports have not been specified yet. It is currently speculated that Apple may be swapping out the standard USB ports, the MagSafe port and the Thunderbolt ports for a Type-C port. As for performance, the MacBook Pro is expected to run on Intel’s Skylake processors.

While design changes and additional ports are great and all, Apple will also be adding two new features to the upcoming MacBook Pro. The first is the addition of a narrow OLED display right above the keyboard. This display functions as a touchscreen, replacing the physical function keys that are currently found on MacBooks. The fact that this is a screen also means that it could do more than just be a substitute for the function keys. The other feature that may be coming to the MacBook Pro is the implementation of a Touch ID sensor in the Mac. This would allow you to unlock your MacBook Pro without needing a password, and it also makes the Mac more secure than before.

No release date was given as to when the new MacBook Pro will be available, although Apple is expected to host an event whereby they’ll reveal the new iPhone in September. That said, Bloomberg is reporting that the MacBook Pro won’t be at the iPhone reveal event, so should that be the case, we can probably expect it in October.
