Apple has announced a replacement program for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR’s Smart Battery Case after discovering that some of them have charging issues.
Those who have purchased the Smart Battery Case for the 2018 iPhone models between January 2019 to October 2019 can replace their cases for free if their case is verified to be eligible for the program. You can do so by going to an Apple Authorised Service Provider.
If your Smart Battery Case is faulty, it will charge intermittently or not charge at all when it’s plugged into power or when you’re trying to charge your iPhone with it. If so, you should definitely get your case checked.
Apple also announced that this program will not extend the standard warranty coverage, but it will cover the affected Smart Battery Case for two years from the first purchase date.
