Apple might be releasing an iPhone with three cameras on the back in 2019

Could Apple be the next company to show us a phone with a tri-camera setup? Huawei shocked the world by adding a third camera to their P20 Pro phone, and everyone thought it was a gimmick. However, they have managed to prove that the additional camera did big a huge benefit when it came to photography, evident from DxOMark which placed the P20 phones on the top of the list.

According to a security analyst, Jeff Pu, Apple might launch a phone with a tri-camera setup in the second half of 2019. Pu did not reveal any other information but a Chinese publication has mentioned that the phone will come with a 5x zoom and one of the lenses will have a 12MP resolution sensor. If this actually happens, then you should expect that Apple will offer the tri-camera setup on their most expensive phone when next year comes around.

Just like all speculations, it should be taken with a grain of salt. The middle of 2019 prediction date is the first indicator that this might not actually happen as we have known Apple to release their new and powerful phones closer to the end of the year, like the November 2017 release date of the iPhone X. Nevertheless, we might not want to complete dismiss this as Apple might change up their release schedule for this new phone.
