Apple might be bringing air gesture controls and curved screens to future iPhones

Bloomberg has reported that Apple is in the process of developing two new technologies that will be incorporated into future iPhones, the first being a touchless gesture control and the other is a curved display. It is said that these new technologies are still in the development phase and will take roughly two years before we start seeing them in Apple devices.

Samsung already has a technology similar to what Apple is developing in its Galaxy S4, where users could swipe just above the screen to scroll a webpage or photos. Apple’s version will have 3D Touch like functions where users can hover their fingers over an icon and it will display more options. Some Galaxy S phones also have curved screens on the edge but Apple is going with a screen that will curve inward gradually from the top to bottom.

Gestures on a smartphone have been a rather hot topic, with big names trying to implement it in their devices and failed, this opens up a lot of room for Apple to experiment with it and explore different types of ways they can further enhance how smartphones react to gesture-based controls. Two years is not far off.
