Apple charges around RM1200 for iPhone X screen replacement

The iPhone X has gone on sale, so naturally there is an official repair price list released should you need to repair the device, and since it is an iPhone X, you are not going to expect any friendly prices. As spotted by MacRumors, a replacement of the iPhone X’s new OLED display will cost $279 (RM1182), that’s a huge increase over the iPhone 7 Plus and we expect it to be higher over here.

Unlike the US, AppleCare+ for iPhone isn’t offered here as an optional purchase, hence customers won’t be able to pay upfront for the iPhone’s warranty extension and accidental damage protection, the “accidental damage protection” won’t cover screen cracks of course, but allows customers to pay $29 for a screen replacement should it be still within the warranty period. Therefore, it is best that you consider purchasing insurance for your iPhone X if you decide to purchase one when it reaches here.

With that said, the iPhone X’s display is probably as expensive to replace a Galaxy S8’s display, which could cost around RM1,500. However, Samsung does offer a much cheaper screen protection plan at RM149 and offers a one time free screen replacement should anything happens to the phone. Therefore, if you are prepared to own an iPhone X, its best that you consider buying the best possible protection to avoid paying that high bill.
