Apple made a surprising announcement today, introducing the new iPad mini and also an all-new iPad Air. The announcement that is done ever so subtly comes as shock, but that just fuels the excitement of Apple fans.
The iPad Air comes with an ultra-thin 10.5-inch design, and still comes with a Touch ID, unlike the iPad Pro that has equivalent bezels and no Touch ID. Of course, the iPad Air is also powered the A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine that can be found in the newer iPhones, and also has True Tone technology that offers a sharper display. As for the camera, the iPad Air comes with 8MP rear camera with f/2.4 whereas its front houses a 7MP FaceTime HD camera. In addition, the iPad Air also supports the first-generation Apple Pencil and comes with two speakers.
The iPad mini on the other hand, is an upgraded model of its predecessor with a 7.9-inch Retina display that also supports True Tone technology. It also retains Touch ID and comes with the A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine. The iPad mini, in truth is almost similar to the iPad Air, except for its display size. It also has the similar camera specs and supports the first-generation Apple Pencil, plus it also comes with two speakers.
Both the iPad Air and iPad mini comes in two variants: Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular. They support nano-SIM and also eSIM, and has Bluetooth 5.0 technology. On a side note, Apple has also revealed an upcoming update to iWork which will enhance the usage of Apple Pencil with the iPads.
The new iPad Air and iPad mini are now available in three colours: silver, space gray and gold. It comes with either 64GB or 256GB and you can pick between the Wi-Fi only variant or the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant.
