Google has been gearing up for the final release of Android Wear 2.0 sometime early next year, after being delayed for a couple of months. The latest developer preview has been rolled out, bringing in some new features, bringing back a couple of old ones.
One-click Google Sign-in has finally made its way to Android Wear, providing a seamless experience when it comes to authentication. Users are allowed to switch between Google accounts as well. Google has also added in-app billing support, enabling users to authorize their purchases swiftly. Purchase authorization can be done via a 4 digit Google account PIN.
The new Developer Preview 4 also brings in compatibility with Android Wear 1.0 apps. Google has provided a legacy embedded app mechanism that allows Android Wear 1.0 apps to work on Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches. Apart from that, the old Swipe to Dismiss gesture that is on Android Wear 1.0 has been brought back by Google to its latest Android Wear version. Activities done on Android Wear smartwatches will automatically support the Swipe to Dismiss gesture, resulting in the app navigating down in the back stack.
