Android app support will finally arrive on the first major Windows 11 update

One of the biggest key features of Windows 11 is the ability to run Android apps with the preloaded Amazon Appstore, and Microsoft is currently rolling out a preview of the Appstore to users based in the US, which can be acquired by simply updating the Microsoft Store app.

Android apps will run in their native code and is supported by Intel’s Bridge Technology, which is a post compiler that enables ARM coded apps to run natively on x86 platforms, while users can expect input and Windows snapping on apps to work as usual. Currently, the Amazon Appstore preview has more than 1000 apps and games that should work well on Windows 11.

Apart from this announcement, Microsoft has also made enhancements to the taskbar such as adding a dedicated mute/unmute microphone button near the clock, easier Windows sharing to Microsoft Teams, weather and clock on the taskbar when you have a second screen attached.

In addition, Media Player will replace the current Groove Music app with an updated interface that gives you easier access to your music library, and the redesigned Notepad app will adapt to the system dark mode theme, support multi-level undo, colorful emojis and a more efficient find and replace feature, they can be downloaded at the Microsoft Store.
