Look alive PC-building enthusiasts, the new 3rd-Gen AMD Ryzen CPUs are rolling out in Malaysia and the official prices have been announced.

According to reports, a total of seven CPUs have been launched – the top of the line being the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X priced at RM2,199. We move down the pecking order with the Ryzen 7 3800X at RM1,799; Ryzen 7 3700X at RM1,399; Ryzen 5 3600X at RM1,069; Ryzen 5 3600 at RM859; Ryzen 3400G at RM679; and the Ryzen 3 3200G at RM429.

Two cards that stand out are the Ryzen 5 3600 and the Ryzen 7 3700X – the Rzyen 5 3600 is, of course, the successor to the very popular Ryzen 5 2600, a chip that many consider one of the finest offerings in the last generation of CPUs – by both AMD and Intel – for its price. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7 3700X, looks to be a bang-for-your-buck buy wit 8 course, 16 threads priced at a reasonable RM1,399.

All CPUs, barring the Ryzen 5 3400G and the Ryzen 3 3200G support PCIe 4.0; so you’ll need to look at your motherboard specs before you upgrade.

But if your motherboard doesn’t support PCIe 4.0, another plus is of course, the price drop of the 2nd-gen Ryzen CPUs – the aforementioned Ryzen 5 2600, with 6 cores, is now available for just RM590. So if you’re stuck with a much older CPU, you should give the 2nd-gen processors some serious consideration.
