If you’re in the market for a new budget CPU, then you’ll be glad to know that AMD has just released the Athlon 3000G processor.
Priced at $49 (RM203), the 3000G replaces the Athlon 200GE, being the company’s first unlocked Athlon built on the Zen+ architecture.
It boasts the same 2-core 4-thread build with a higher base clock speed of 3.5Ghz and is built on a 12nm architecture this time. It packs the same Radeon Vega 3 graphics chip but this time it runs at a higher clock speed of 1,100Mhz, 100Mhz than its predecessor. The new chip is compatible with AM4 motherboards so you can really get your budget build going.
AMD claims that the new Athlon 3000G CPU performs better at 720p gaming compared to the more expensive Intel Pentium G5400 too, boasting a 55% increase in frames per second during tests.
The CPU will be available via participating retailers sometime this week.
