AMD isn’t letting Intel beat its HEDT processors and it has given its rival the definite answer with the 2nd Gen Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX and 2920X processors.
The Ryzen Threadripper WX series offers class-leading core counts and is built for prosumers focused on raw computational power, while the Ryzen Threadripper X series offers enthusiasts, gamers and streamers the ultimate gaming power with higher base and boost clock speeds than the previous generation.
Furthermore, AMD notes that users should expect up to 32% faster performance in ray-tracing and 60% faster encryption for creators for both processors as compared to the Core i9-7960X and Core i7-7820X.
All new Ryzen Threadripper processors will support existing X399 platforms with a BIOS update. The Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition systems will also now be offered with the new 16-core Ryzen Threadripper 2950X and 12-core Ryzen Threadripper 2920X processors.
