At the beginning of the year, Netflix made its official debut in Malaysia. To close out 2016, yet another video streaming service has made itself available in Malaysia, and said service comes from Amazon. That’s right, Amazon’s Prime Video service is now available locally as part of its global roll out.

With Amazon Prime Video now available here, those who are interested in the service will no longer need to modify their DNS or even rely on VPNs to gain access to the service. That said, it is highly likely that Prime Video will be subjected to the same licensing clause that causes some content to be unavailable in other countries, so if you’re looking for a specific content in Prime Video, the VPN may still be useful.

A subscription to Prime Video will cost you USD2.99 (RM13) per month for the first six months of use. After that, the subscription rates will revert back to the default price of USD5.99 (RM27) per month. As is the case with various other video streaming services, you’re allowed to cancel your Prime Video subscription at anytime. Amazon Prime Video does not appear to have a tiering system to speak off, so you don’t have to worry about content format restrictions or anything of the sort.

Prime Video is available through Android or iOS apps, through its official website, on Amazon’s own Fire tablets, and selected smart TV models from various manufacturers.
