Amazon updates entry-level Kindle with more memory and Bluetooth audio support

Amazon’s Kindle is undeniably one of the best eReader out there when it comes to affordability, the company has unveiled a successor to its current entry-level eReader, which features a thinner and lighter design at the same $79.99 price tag, the new Kindle is claimed to be 11% thinner and 16% lighter than its predecessor, it is also equipped with more storage and RAM at 4GB and 512MB respectively, which matches the performance internals of the mid-range Kindle PaperWhite. Despite of that, the 6-inch e-paper display still isn’t backlit and maintains the same 167 ppi screen resolution from its predecessor.

What makes the new Kindle different is the inclusion of Bluetooth audio support, which is used for accessibility rather than music listening. Since the Kindle doesn’t sport any built-in speakers, visually impaired users can pair the Kindle to a Bluetooth audio device to use Amazon’s VoiceView screen reader that reads menus and text aloud. Amazon will begin to ship the new Kindle next month with pre-orders starting right now, if you have a little extra cash to spare, I might actually recommend spending on a Kindle Paperwhite as it has a better display for your reading pleasure.
