The Amazfit T-Rex Pro has just been launched, and it improves over last year’s model with impressive improvements in almost every aspect.
The watch still comes with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display that pushes a 360×360 resolution; with a tempered glass protective layer and anti-fingerprint finish. This time, the display is housed in a metallic-painted frame, which still sports a similar rugged build. Also new in terms of design is a two-tone silicone strap, which is ‘skin-friendly’, keeping your skin dry even during an intense workout.
Being an outdoor-ready watch, the T-Rex Pro is now made tougher and has passed 15 military grade tests. It can also withstand heat of up to 70°C, can humid surroundings for up to 240 hours, as well as 96 hours of salt spraying.
Plus, you can take it up to 100m underwater if you want, because it also has 10 ATM water-resistance rating, compared to the regular T-Rex’s 5 ATM rating.
Moving on to its new software features, the T-Rex Pro now offers blood-oxygen level monitoring, on top of an improved BioTracker PPG 2 optical sensor for heart rate-tracking. Lastly, Amazfit adds a stress-monitoring feature to round off the suite of new additions to the health-tracking side of things.
Moving on to sports and navigation, the watch now packs over 100 sports modes to choose from, which is a far cry from the 14 that the original T-Rex offered. There’s also smart automatic sports recognition for 8 types of sports, so you can immediately start your workout without swiping through menus first.
For navigation, you now get Galileo and BeiDou systems on top of the existing GPS and GLONASS positioning.
In terms of battery life, Amazfit claims that the watch can run for up to 18 days thanks to its 390mAh battery. It’ll take 1.5 hours to fully charge the device via a proprietary 2-pin magnetic charger. You’ll also need the Zepp app to pair the watch with your smartphone.
