Acer had 7 launches throughout the year of 2018, and to end the year gracefully, the company decided to unveil several new and upgraded laptops, desktops and monitors.
The Acer Swift 5 that has always had 14-inch screens will now come with a 15,6-inch Full HD IPS touch screen yet only weighing at 990g in addition to its slim bezels. The Swift 5 is by far the lightest 15.6-inch laptop and comes with Acer Colour Intelligence technology and also Acer BlueLight Shield technology for great colour vibrancy and eye protection. It will also be equipped with up to 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD which is claimed to be able to respond 30x faster than a regular HDD, in addition to that, the Swift 5 will be supporting Windows Hello with a fingerprint reader for higher security purposes. The Acer Swift 5 will be available in two colours; Charcoal Blue and Steel Gray.
The Swift 5 will not be the only one getting an upgrade, as the Swift 3 series will welcome new additions which will also be lighter and slimmer. The Acer Swift 3 has a 14-inch IPS Full HD screen but now comes at a lighter weight of 1.35kg. It can be powered by either Intel Core i5-8265U or i7-8565U and the storage options are 128GB SSD, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD or 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Graphics wise, the options remain the same with either Intel UHD Graphics 620 and NVIDIA MX150. The newer models of the Acer Swift 3 comes in Sparkly Silver.
Apart from that, the Acer Aspire 5 will also be welcoming new additions that will be lighter and slimmer, though the screen size will remain at 15.6-inch. The new additions will now be at 1.8kg with Intel Core i5-8256U or i7-8565U. The model that takes on the higher end processor will also be getting 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD while the other will be missing the 128GB SSD. Besides that, the other specs remain the same with 4GB RAM that’s upgradable and 48Wh 3220mAh battery. The colour options for the Acer Aspire 5 are Pure Silver, Lava Red and Obsidian Black but the higher end model will only be available in Obsidian Black.
The Acer TravelMate X514 will also be introduced to Acer fans, and the laptop is also very light, like the rest of the devices mentioned above. The X514 will weigh at 980g and comes with 14-inch Full HD display. The laptop will be powered by Intel Core i5-8265U or i7-8565U, and comes with 256GB SSD or 512GB SSD. It has 8GB RAM and uses the Intel UHD Graphics 620. This device is made for professionals who look for portability and efficient productivity in a laptop, and it comes with built-in fingerprint reader and Windows Hello for higher security.
That’s about it for the laptops, so let’s move on to the Predator Orion 3000, a member of the Predator Orion family. The Predator Orion 3000 has up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and has up to 64GB RAM and storage wise, users can choose to opt for the 32GB Intel Optane Memory or the 512GB PCIe SSD. Graphics wise, the Orion 3000 has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card that can be upgraded to GTX 2070 which will allow the desktop to support 4K gameplay.
Next, there are two gaming monitors by Acer, the first being a new and bigger Acer ED323QURA monitor that comes with a 31.5-inch VA curved 16:9 screen with 2K resolution display and 144Hz refresh rate. The monitor comes with 178 degree viewing angle and has a response time of 4ms. It also supports Dual Link, HDMI 2.0 and Display Port, and it can be tilted for better viewing position. Besides that, the gaming monitor comes with Acer Vision Care display, Flicker-less technology, BlueLight Shield technology, Acer ComfyView Display and also low dimming technology. With the AMD Radeon FreeSync technology, the monitor will also sync with the graphics card to prevent screen tearing and better game experience.
Not only that, Acer also showcased the ET322QK Professional 4K UHD Monitor for those who want higher specs, because the ET322QK comes with 4K UHD display of 31.5-inch screen size for more vivid and accurate colours. Equipped with Acer HDR Ready technology, the display offers higher contrast and more realistic colours. Like the ED323QURA, this monitor also supports AMD FreeSync technology and the other technologies that were listed, except for the Acer Vision Care display. However, the refresh rate of the ET322QK is lower compared to the previous one mentioned as the refresh rate is at 60Hz instead of 144Hz.
Now the Swift 5 and the TravelMate X514 is not available yet, and there is no official date on when the Swift 5 will be released, but the TravelMate X514 is expected to be available in January 2019. The TravelMate X514 will come with the price as below:

Last but not least, the ET322QK monitor will be priced at RM 1,499 whereas the ED323QURA gaming monitor will be priced at RM1,499. The monitors and the Acer Swift 3 and Acer Aspire 5 is already available and can be purchased at Acer official online stores and also authorised resellers nationwide.
