A smarter Google Calendar for easy management

As someone who uses the Google calendar on a regular basis (6 different calendars!), sometimes I find it to be really cumbersome when it comes to keying in entries. Well, good news for us Google calendar users: an update will be rolling out from next week onwards, and instead of copy-pasting all your events and appointments one-by-one into your calendar, the new smarter Google Calendar will detect your email on Gmail on these details and add them into your calendar.

Honestly, I can’t imagine how it will work, but it would save everyone a whole lot of time and effort if it is done seamlessly. What can it do, you might ask. For instance, if you receive an email with flight reservations, including your flight number, time and all those details on your Gmail, your calendar will automatically sync these details. And should you receive another email that informs you of a flight delay or change, your calendar will automatically update these details. How cool is that!

Now, this feature will be enabled by default on all Google Calendar whether on desktop, or on your iOS and Android devices for all Google Apps customers – except for Google Apps for Government domains. Another thing to take note is that events from Gmail added to Calendar will be visible only to calendar owners by default – delegated access users will not be able to see it.

At the launch of the app, you will see an in-product screen explaining that events from Gmail will be automatically added for their account, and indicating that the feature can be disabled in settings.
